Having issues piled up in "In progress" was always a red flag to me, most importantly because:
- they could block or delay useful work from others
- delay releases
- just stay there for no reason
Sometimes, incorrect categorisation due to limited Kanban board setups cause this. I found that every board should have at least a Backlog, Todo, In Progress, In Review, In Testing, Done column, because if your PR is waiting for a review it's not In Progress anymore.
