Discover the secrets behind Amazon's success and apply their leadership principles as an engineer. Learn effective communication strategies, setting clear expectations, and making decisions.
I don't know much about big tech but I’m happy to see practical principles applied, such as the right to left planning. It's much like when a freelancer brainstorms a project idea with a future client. You never start by discussing what kind of database or build tool you're going to use!
At first, I thought all these culture principles were just buzzwords and marketing. But I saw the value in them to apply them in my real life. Same way than I would read about other great companies and the reasons for their success, I read about Amazon and try to apply those learnings
Insightful read, Fran! nice deep dive into the Amazon culture. My favorite bit was: respect what was done before, working systems that got the company to this point.
Thanks, Bodgan, both for your comments and the mention!
It's easy to find the problems when we arrive new to a place. But we should never forget that those systems were what enabled the company to offer us a job :)
Excellent writing, Fran, as always!

Thank you for the mention Fran!
Happy to do so, Milan. It was great fruitful for me to read your learnings about the book

I certainly like Amazons customer obsession part! A lot of companies try to build their own versions of it, but Amazon really cares for customers!
I'm certain if companies tried to be the best at everything, they wouldn't be the best at anything.
Having one principle that stands above the rest helps
Agreed. I guess that’s the best part, as leaders we can bring the best from everywhere!
